E.L.F Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder

When Summer comes around (don’t hold your breath this year, apparently) I am always jealous of Summer Girls.

Summer Girls seem to just naturally adapt to the heat. They nonchalantly shrug off their jumpers to reveal tanned, glossy limbs. They wear those little delicate flat sandals blister free, carry a straw bag, smell of coconuts and La Roche Posay sunscreen. Meanwhile I’m schlepping around cultivating ingrown hairs, getting plantar fasciitis from the EXACT SAME SANDALS, and constantly looking like I’ve just been pulled out of a sous vide. ‘Hahahaha!’ the Summer Girls elegantly laugh with their heads tilted back in the beer garden, as I comically run away from wasps and my sunglasses steam up. Thank you northern European genes for this maladaptation to anything over 20 degrees.

Anyway, enough self-pity: I have found a product that makes me feel a bit better, a bit more put-together and summery. It’s this brilliant E.L.F duo bronzer in ‘Fiji’. It has a pan of matte pale brown and a pan of pinky terracotta – the latter having enough pink to mimic my porcine complexion in the heat.

Use a big fluffy brush to first draw a ‘3’ shape, starting at your temple, going into your cheekbone and back out and under your jawline. Mirror the ‘3’ shape on the other side (though obviously the other way – you are not a bingo ball). Do a bit on the bridge of your nose and forehead if you like (I do). Then pick up the rosy colour and brush it onto the apples of your cheeks and the tip of your nose. Ta da! You are no longer Jack Black in Jumanji 2.

Available at big branches of Superdrug, with the low-stakes price tag of £5. It may or may not be a screamingly shameless copy of the Nars Laguna/Orgasm duo, but with less glitter. We will never know!
